1. Transmitter and receiver: The safety light curtain is composed of a transmitter and a receiver. The transmitter emits an infrared beam, while the receiver receives and monitors whether the infrared beam is blocked.

2. Grating formation: The infrared beam between the transmitter and receiver forms an invisible grating, usually in the form of horizontal or vertical. This grating is the "barrier" of the safety light curtain and should be continuous under normal circumstances.

3. Block detection: When someone or an object enters the safe area and blocks the grating, the receiver will receive a weak or interrupted light signal and immediately send a signal to the controller.

4. Controller response: The controller receives the signal and takes quick action, which may stop the operation of the mechanical equipment, issue an alarm or trigger other safety measures.
